Jury Prize - A LA CARTE
We were enchanted and captivated by the film we awarded the Jury Prize to.
It wasn't just the wonderful, realistic acting of the two main actors.
This film manages to tell us a lot about the complex themes of gender, identity, fear, freedom and PRIDE.
Very restrained, very light and light-footed.
The alleged binary nature of gender (male/female) is briefly cited again, only to show and break open the absurdity of this restrictive and violent system.
The film gives us hope: that we can overcome social gender constraints. That queer people can finally live their utopia. That the constant need to fight and the fear of violence can end at some point.
Kill the Binary!
Gender doesn't matter, Love does!
The jury prize goes to: A LA CARTE
Honorable Mention 1 - Renasissances
The introduction to this film goes straight to the heart, so much so that we on the jury were in tears.
Close to the protagonists, the film not only takes the perspective of a trans kid but also of his family environment and has a dramaturgy that made us curious. It was important to see the development process of all those involved and that "at the end" of this process there is a good outcome. We need messages like that! So congratulations to the short documentary "Renasissances"!
Honorable Mention 2 - Queen Size
Life is hard. You lose your job, have to move back in with your parents, sell your furniture. But sometimes in such situations, everything can suddenly become very easy. A chance encounter, getting to know each other and everything falls into place without many words and without any confessions or explanations. Marina and Charlie both carry their own baggage through life, as we all do. But suddenly they carry them together, in the form of a big mattress. This little story from Paris is taken from life, nothing seems deliberate or artificial. We immediately fell in love with the two actresses. And we were delighted with a movie that, despite all the challenges in life, is not a problem movie. A film that explains nothing, excuses nothing, but simply waits to see what happens when people meet. It creates the magic of a new beginning, a wonderful love story. We would like to praise this movie highly and recommend it to you: Queen Size!
